Servo Mounting

First, and quite obvious when you look at the space, is that standard size servos will not fit in a 12th scale car. There are plenty of mini size servos around that will though. The most popular are the Futaba 9602 and 9650, and the KO 947 and 949.

The servo saver that comes with the kit will fit KO servos, you will need to get a different one for Futaba servos.

When you mount the servo, make sure that the servo saver is exactly in the centre of the car. This will save you from having different steering amounts from left to right.

The servo saver (Futaba fitting) is shown below.

Note the different holes in the servo saver. The manual shows the ball ends through the inner holes, but it was recommended to me to use the centre holes instead. I’m not 100% sure on this but I think this changes the ackermann slightly (the amount the inner wheel turns compared to the outer one). I’ve seen national A finalists who use both, so take your pick.

The fitted servo and servo saver are shown below, using the centre holes.
