History

The club first started racing at the Goldwell Rooms in Chesterfield. Racing was on a polished wooden floor with sand filled fire hose track markers and raced 1/12th scale cars with foam tyres covered with a stipple effect silicone.

Later the club held a sponsored event to raise money to buy a blue Primafelt carpet and in 1983 we held our first national event at our new club venue Sharley Park Leisure Centre.

Shortly after the first national we had to move from the Goldwell rooms to the Winding Wheel which was a disused cinema. After a short stay at the Winding Wheel we moved to our current club venue.

We have many top drivers in 1/12th scale and touring cars racing at club nights which makes the racing very competitive.

We are collecting historical items and articles about the club. So far we have reports from the 12th Scale nationals for 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1989, all from Model Cars magazine and written by current club member Peter Winton. You can view the reports by clicking on the links below.
